Principal
Dear Riverview Families,
Welcome to all of our returning and new Riverview families! We are excited to share all the great things about Riverview with you and believe you will soon feel as we do - that Riverview Elementary School is a special place for all students.
This is my first year as principal at Riverview and I am completely excited! I was on staff at Riverview as a 5th grade teacher when it opened in the fall of 2002. Besides teaching at Riverview, I did my administrative internship, and filled in as acting principal to finish the year in 2003-2004. Soon after, my wife and I moved our young family to Eastern Oregon where we have been for the past 20 years. During those years, I have been an elementary principal and superintendent in Stanfield, Hermiston, and Pendleton. The past three years I served as the superintendent of Pendleton School District. Early on during my time in Pendleton, I realized I missed being in the building - specifically, the daily interactions with teachers, staff, students and parents.
There is nothing like being an elementary principal, and that is truly where my heart lies. And, in all the schools I've worked, Riverview is near the top! I am a big believer in the Teacher - Student relationship. It's the most important relationship in any school district. When a student knows that the adults in the school believe in them, great things happen. I'm also a believer in building a foundation for strong citizenship, critical thinking skills and high levels of engagement in our students.
It is truly a privilege to be a part of the Riverview community! I look forward to partnering with you to provide your students with the strong foundation needed to succeed in their years ahead. We will always put the best interests of our students at the center of our purpose and mission! Thank you for your support!
