Welcome Letter from Principal Vore
Hello Riverview Parents,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. My name is Joe Vore, and I am honored to be your student’s principal. I hope you are all as excited as I am to start the first day of school and see smiling faces as we start the year.
I know there is always a lot of information to go out, so I will try and keep this as brief as I can. I will include a poster that will give information about the morning and afternoon routines and ask that you please review so you know which door your student enters the building and where to pick them up.
TUESDAY, SEPT 5: OPEN HOUSE

Hours 8-11 am and 12-3 pm. Doors will not open till 8 am. Please be courteous when teachers need to go to lunch (for example, please do not show up at 10:55 am).

Bring your child’s school supplies to drop off in their classroom.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP LANES
In the morning, pull up as far as you can before letting your student out of the car to make it go as smoothly as possible. If you need to get out of your car to help your student, please park in a parking spot, and your student can use the crosswalk. There is no parking in the drop off lanes to walk your student into the school. If a staff member asks you to pull forward, please listen and understand that we are trying to get 400 kids into the building in 15 minutes and minimize the vehicle back-up as much as we can. Please do not drop off students in the parking lot between parked cars as this is not as safe and actually slows down the line as we have to stop cars so they can use the crosswalk. At no time can you pass a bus in the drop off or pick up lane unless directed to do so by a staff member.
The first day of school is always the worst in the pick-up lane and will get better each day, but please be patient and be courteous and cautious. In the afternoon, we again ask you to pull forward before picking up your student and please stay in your car and listen to staff directions. If you need to get out of your car to help your student with a booster seat or with their buckle, please park in the parking lot and walk up to get your student as this significantly slows down the process. If you use our parking lots, please use the crosswalk at all times to set a good example for our students.
Grades K, 3, 5 will be picked up in the West pick-up lane.
Grades 1, 2, 4 will be picked up in the East pick-up lane after buses leave.
If someone else helps drop off and pick up your student, please share this information with them.
WHERE WILL YOUR CHILD GO AFTER SCHOOL?
Forms will be available at Open House and need to be turned in as soon as possible for all students and grade levels. We understand that occasionally there may be changes to the daily routine and ask that you please send in a written note with clear instructions or call into the main office 541-451-8451 by 1:30 pm (11:30 am on Wednesdays). Otherwise students will be sent home as previously indicated.
KINDERGARTEN
-
First day is Monday Sept 11
-
Half Days (12:20) until Sept 29
-
First full day is Oct 2
LOST AND FOUND
Please help us minimize the large number of jackets, sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, lunchboxes, and backpacks that get placed in the lost and found by labeling with your student’s last name. This allows us to get those items back to your student. Items not picked up will be donated to a local charity after the end of each semester.
PARENT-SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP
Everyone at Riverview wants the best for your students, and we know you do as well. If you have a question or concern, please talk to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. If your concern is not resolved, please come to me to help resolve any issue. Remember that students are going to have issues with other students just like adults do. Remember to stay positive and be a good role model on how to best handle and resolve situations with others, and let us know so that we can help as well.
Have a great weekend, and I am excited to see everyone on Tuesday, Sept 5.
